Northeast Utilities (NU) is the parent company of the Northeast Utilities system (the NU system). The NU system furnishes franchised retail electric service in Connecticut, New Hampshire and western Massachusetts through three of the Company's wholly owned subsidiaries, The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P), Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) and Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECO). The NU system also furnishes retail natural gas service in most of Connecticut through Yankee Gas Services Company (Yankee Gas), a subsidiary of Yankee Energy System, Inc. (Yankee), a natural gas distribution company in Connecticut. Yankee Gas serves approximately 191,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in 69 cities and towns in Connecticut.
